I hope everyone had a great week! I’m gearing up to have a pretty busy two weeks on the site, so I’ll get right to it. First, a re-cap.
This Week’s Wrapup
Angelia Sparrow and Naomi Brooks visited the blog Thursday to promote the anthology Like It or Not, which starts out with their story “Out of Options.” I want to thank them again for a wonderful interview and for coming and answering commenter questions. Storm Moon Press is also giving away a copy of the book and the giveaway is still open until Sunday at 10pm CST. So leave a comment for a chance to win. I’ll be posting the winner tomorrow night.
I got a bit sick this week, which slowed me down a little, but I did review a couple books. Where Nerves End by LA Witt got a Pretty Good rating, and today I reviewed Rules Are Meant to Be Broken by NJ Nielsen, the first part of a massive new series called The Lines of Marsden.
During my mini and probably pitiful convalescence, I read the Dr. Fell series. I’m now partway into The Boys of Fell and loving every minute of it still. Thanks to everyone for replying to my Currently Reading post about the series, because while its fun to talk about books you’ve read and love, sometimes it’s even more fun to read with a buddy! I was so glad some of you stopped by to talk about the series with me!
I reviewed two stories at Brief Encounters this week: POP Goes the Time Traveler by Jonathan Treadway and The Once and Future Love by Ari McKay, which I really enjoyed and gave an A- rating. We’re reviewing many of the Dreamspinner Daily Dose Time Travel stories this month, so stop by and take a look around!
Other reads this week were Perfect Day, a recent short story by Josh Lanyon (as ever up to par), as well as two stories from the M/M GR Group’s Love is Always Write event. Underwater Secrets by Charlie Richards was so so in my opinion, but I really enjoyed Kate Islay’s story, By Design.
Coming Up This Week – June 10-16
As usual I’ll have a new recipe for Sunday Supper and a new load of guys to trot in for Monday Men. I’ve not decided what naughtiness there should be for Hump Day, Hump Day, but we’ll see what I’m inspired by in the next few days, shall we?
I didn’t get to review Hayden Thorne’s two short stories, The Bridge and The Water-Irises, this week so I’ll try to make sure to publish those soon.
Ethan Day’s latest book just came out yesterday! Second Time Lucky looks really great and I’ll also be reviewing that this week!
I’m also gearing up for Carole Cummings’ visit to promote her last book in the Wolf’s-own series, Incendiary! She’ll be visiting on Monday, June 18 and there will be an awesome interview and a really great giveaway! To get ready for that I’ll be reviewing the first three books in this awesome series this week, all leading up to the review of Incendiary on the 18th! I can’t wait to share these books with you — as always Carole’s work is simply stunning and I always want to pimp it out to all my friends, so I hope you’ll look forward to that as much as I am!
Here’s to a great week everyone!
